What Townsquare Loves About Wichita Falls, TX
Wichita Falls is an area deep rooted in history. But, if you're not a history buff, our city still offers something for everyone! Wichita Falls is host to the largest one-day, 100-mile biking event every August. It is called the Hotter 'N Hell Hundred. People come from all over the world to ride in this event. Trust us, this is no ride in the park! This event is named so for good reasons. Riding 100 miles in 100 degree weather means you need to be one tough cookie to both participate and spectate.
Then, we have the World's Littlest Sky Scraper. This 4 story building, built in 1919, is full of reasons to visit, even if just to poke fun at its history. It was to be a full scale skyscraper, but it was built in inches, not feet, as the owner had planned. This building has even been featured recently on the Travel Channel.
And last, but certainly not least, we have The Falls in Wichita Falls. In 1880, a large flood in the area of the natural waterfall the city was named after destroyed the falls. After 100 years of visitors coming to see "The Falls," the city decided it was time to bring back an important piece of our heritage. An artificial falls was built and can be seen flowing right from Interstate 44. And don't forget our other attractions! Castaway Cove Waterpark, MPEC and countless other attractions.
